Counseling Department

The American School Counseling Association (ASCA) as well as the Pennsylvania School Counseling Association (PSCA) asserts that school counseling is an integral part of the overall educational experience. Phoenixville Area School District's school counseling department is committed to provide all students with a comprehensive school counseling program which systematically addresses the three areas of academic, career, and personal/social development. It is our belief that in doing so, we assist students in exploring, planning, and realizing their individual interests, abilities, goals, thus helping them reach their full potential as productive members of society.

Academic Support Services include: pre-scheduled 1-on-1 meetings with grade level counselors, course scheduling assistance, graduation requirements, tutoring services, goal setting, and transitioning to high school.

Social/Emotional Support Services include: individual counseling sessions, short term counseling for crises, anxiety, conflict resolution, bullying, and transitioning, collaboration with teachers, parents, administrators and mental health coordinators if needed for outside referrals and groups.

College/Career support services include: naviance classroom sessions with counselors, 1-on-1 meetings with College Counselor beginning junior year, college admissions rep information sessions, military recruiter visits, resume development, NCAA student-athlete review and eligibility, senior college app day, instant decision days with colleges, and college campus visits.
