Community Involvement Program (Class of 2023)

The PAHS Community Involvement Program is an optional program for senior students who are in good academic standing. The program provides an opportunity for students to participate in one of the three following options towards the end of the student’s senior year:

  • Career study/job shadowing
  • Community service
  • Part-time work

 Students who participate in this program will finish their senior year in May. Students will take their finals mid-May and will not attend school the last (3) weeks prior to graduation.  No credit or grade is earned for this program.

 

Eligibility Requirements: Students must be passing ALL senior year classes and be on track to graduate as of the end of the 3rd marking period (3/31/23).


Dates: Monday, May 15th- June 2nd

Application: Students who would like to participate in this program must complete the online application. 

  • The online student application will close at 11:59 pm on Sunday, March 26, 2023.
  • Parent/guardians will receive a separate email on March 27th/28th, which will contain a link for an online permission form for the parent/guardian to agree to the student participating.

 Program Requirements

  • Students are to obtain their own community involvement opportunity.
  • Students must provide their own transportation to/from. PAHS will not provide transportation.
  • Students will need to complete a minimum # of hours per week as detailed below. (Weeks run Monday-Sunday.)
  • Students will need to list a supervisor and provide the supervisor’s contact information within the student online application.
    • This is required for high school staff to be able to reach out to verify hours if needed. The supervisor can be the student’s boss, community member to verify community service or the person they are job shadowing.

Final Exams: 
May 10th-May 12th for students participating in the program. (Mrs. Reutter will share more information and details regarding the exam schedule in the spring.)

Required Hours per Week

  • May 15th- May 19th:24 hours (no school on 5/16- no hours required that day)
  • May 22nd- May 26th: 30 hours
  • May 29th- June 2nd: 24 hours (no school on 5/29- no hours required that day)

Weekly Verifications

  • Students will receive an email each Friday of the program (5/19, 5/26, and 6/2), which will have an online verification form. Students are required to complete the weekly form to verify hours and to share what you did during the week.
