DWD Visits West Chester University

Recently, the HS (led by Mrs. Lewis and Mr. Madyun) and MS (led by myself) DWD programs, traveled to West Chester University for a campus tour, admissions presentation, provided lunch AND the chance to sit in 2 college courses! Students from the HS program were able to sign up for 2 classes out of a list of 8. 4 classes were offered in the morning (Painting, English Linguistics, Writing & Bio Lab) and 4 in the afternoon (Writing, DNA Research, Linguistics & Fashion/Drama). The MS Students paired up with a HS student as their mentor for the day and shadowed them through the classes. (As you see in the photos, we sat the students by class choice before we left to give them a chance to get to know one another).
The students took notes in the classes and even participated in class discussions as some students learned information in high school. The college students and professors were very accepting of our Phantoms!
Dr. Lalicker, an English Professor at West Chester University and weekly presenter for the HS DWD program, planned this trip for the students! This was an outstanding opportunity to dive into an experience before attending a college.
