PAHS Counseling Department

The American School Counseling Association (ASCA) as well as the Pennsylvania School Counseling Association (PSCA) asserts that school counseling is an integral part of the overall educational experience. Phoenixville Area School District's school counseling department is committed to provide all students with a comprehensive school counseling program which systematically addresses the three areas of academic, career, and personal/social development. It is our belief that in doing so, we assist students in exploring, planning, and realizing their individual interests, abilities, goals, thus helping them reach their full potential as productive members of society.

Academic Support Services include: pre-scheduled 1-on-1 meetings with grade level counselors 2x/year, course scheduling assistance, graduation requirements, tutoring services, goal setting, and transitioning to high school.

Social/Emotional Support Services include: individual counseling sessions, short term counseling for crises, anxiety, conflict resolution, bullying, and transitioning, collaboration with teachers, parents, administrators and mental health coordinators if needed for outside referrals and groups.

College/Career Support Services include: naviance classroom sessions with grade level counselor, 1-on-1 meetings with College Counselor beginning junior year, college admissions rep information sessions, military recruiter visits, resume development, NCAA student-athlete review and eligibility, summer college application completion sessions, senior college app day, instant decision days with colleges, college essay workshops and review sessions, and college campus visits.

May 7th-10th: Senior final exams for those participating in career study

May 13th-31st: Senior career study program

May 28th-31st: senior final exams for those who did not participate in career study

June 1st: SAT testing at PAHS

June 3-7:
Class of 2019 graduation practices (please refer to grad packet for more details)

Department Hours

The Counseling Office is open 7:00 am-3:15 pm Monday-Friday. Counselors are available 7:10 am- 2:40 pm Monday-Friday.
