Song of Myself: The Individual, Conformity, and Society

As part of the unit, “Song of Myself: The Individual, Conformity, and Society”, the students in Mrs. Lewis’ English 11 classes explored the concepts of individualism, nonconformity, and civil disobedience. As part of the unit, students explored the rights and responsibilities of individual citizens, especially as it relates to addressing ills within society. Students were asked to create a Living Museum on Social Justice. In this museum , students presented on issues of social injustice that were significant to them. Through power points, posters, story boards, and special live presentations, students captured the stories of those impacted by injustice and what has been done or needs to be done to help alleviate their suffering.
