Greetings Phoenixville Area HS Students, Parents and Community Members!
My name is Dr. Craig L. Parkinson and I am the Principal of the Phoenixville Area High School. I have had the pleasure of serving the students at PAHS for the past 11 years - 5 as the Assistant Principal and 6 as the Building Principal. Our mission at the Phoenixville Area School District is “to prepare, inspire, and graduate students to meet the challenges of the future” – a mantra that is reflected in our daily attitudes, dispositions and decision-making. What will make our students most successful? How do we equip our students to be successful in an ever-changing and unpredictable world? How can we re-imagine what education can and should be? Such are the questions that drive so much of what we do at Phoenixville – questions we always hope to answer as a team. I am blessed and privileged to guide one of the most skillful, creative and passionate staff assembled and our students are fortunate to experience their wisdom and expertise on a daily basis.
Together, we have accomplished a great deal at Phoenixville Area High School over the past few years, namely, being recognized by the US News and World Report as one of the top 5% of high schools in the country, being recognized by Newsweek for our academic excellence and being named by College Board to the Advanced Placement Honor Roll. We have half of our students taking and Advanced Placement course here at Phoenixville Area High School. Such accolades over the years has helped to instill a great deal of confidence in our faculty, students and the community and solidified our belief that literally anything is possible when we work together. However, as wonderful as the awards and recognition may be, it’s the sense of connection and outreach towards others that makes Phoenixville so very special. Phoenixville offers over 50 clubs and activities, allowing students the chance to explore their own interests and forge relationships. Phoenixville also prides itself on its willingness to help others, with students logging literally thousands upon thousands of hours of community service and support in an effort to make their home and future a better place.
Phoenixville is a non-traditional place. It’s willing to rethink how things have always been done and explore the alternatives – always with the goal of helping students be successful. It has always been our belief that if you are able to educate the whole child, that is, focusing on the skills that will allow them to function in all walks of life (problem solving, working with others, displaying empathy, finding your passion in life), they will develop into happy, healthy, confident individuals capable of changing the world.
Phoenixville is rising. Every day, we continue to create an atmosphere of unparalleled academic rigor coupled with a supportive family atmosphere where our true goal is to see each person find their own path to success and happiness. It is an amazing place to be – undoubtedly a product of the amazing staff, teachers, parents and above all, students who continue to make it so special. I am but a small part in making this happen, and feel fortunate to have been entrusted by such a great community to lead this HS.
