This is the image for the news article titled Congratulations Odyssey of the MindThis year, there were 2 PASD teams, an elementary team and a PAMS team. The elementary team is comprised of 7 students—4 students from Barkley and 3 students from Schuylkill. The PAMS team is comprised of 7 6th grade students.  During the elementary performance today, the team captivated the attention of the audience from the moment they walked on stage. The team's problem was to create and deliver a humorous performance depicting problem solving from the perspective of three different animals. The animals helped a stranger, helped each other, and solved a problem that threatened the survival of all animals. During the performance, the animals had to sing and dance. They demonstrated various emotions including curiosity, sympathy, frustration, and joy. In the end, the elementary team had a very strong score in their Spontaneous problem, earning 2nd place (97/100 points) and 5th place overall out of the 10 total teams performing this problem.  The PAMS team had to build, ride on, and drive a no-cycle, recycling vehicle. It picked up discarded items, adapted them in some way, and then delivered them to places to be re-used. Their vehicle, named “Phantom Phoods,” had to travel without pedaling for propulsion. In the end, the PAMS team ranked 4th place out of the 6 total teams performing this problem type.  Although States is not in the cards for this year, the students and coaches should all be recognized and congratulated for their hard work and commitment to supporting our students in their quest to embrace and display many important 21st Century skills.
